Honesdale High School One Hundred Forty-First Commencement


HONESDALE — One hundred and seventy-two students received their diplomas Saturday morning in front of a crowd of supporting family and friends.

Andrew Bochnovich was named the Class of 2016 Valedictorian. He is the son of Peter and Amy Bochnovich.

Bochnovich boasts a variety of achievements that include: Soccer / Varsity Soccer – Letter, Youth Soccer Referee, TASS Travel Soccer, Junior High Track and Field – Invitational - Regional and State, Varsity Track & Field – Letter / Team Most Improved, Marching Band, Science Olympiad – 5th Place in Heredity at States – 9th Grade, Envirothon, Chemistry Olympiad, American Mathematics Contest, American Chemical Society, Challenge for High School Chemistry Exam – Winner, Math Madness Online Competition Participant, Interstellar Online Math Contest Participant, Scholastic Bowl, Interact Club, Student Council, Delaware Valley Warrior, Engineering Invitational, Scholar of the Year – 2015-2016, National Honor Society – President 2015/2016, Honor Roll and St. John’s Youth Group.

He plans to attend the University of Delaware to study Chemical Engineering.

Salutatorian Kylee Freiermuth is the daughter of Corey and Brandy Freiermuth.

She is in the top five percent of her class.

During her academic career, she has participated in Junior High Cross Country Participant, Track & Field Team Member, American Mathematics Contest – Top HHS Score 2014/2015, Math Madness Online Competition Participant, Interstellar Online Math Contest Participant, Watershed Quality Team, Little Shop of Horrors – Musical, Shrek the Musical 2014, Sound of Music – Student Director, The Music Man (20152016), Chorus – President, Band – Percussion Section Leader, Wind Ensemble, National Anthem Singer, Chamber Choir, Dessert Theater, District and Regional Chorus, Honor Roll, National Honor Society – Vice President, Young Artist’s Showcase, National American Miss State Finalist (Pageant) and was a Dessin Animal Shelter employee.

She plans to attend the University of New Orleans in the ROTC program and major in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.
